The movie houses are at present filled with people rushing to see the film,  “Coco Before Chanel”, which celebrates the life of the French fashion designer Coco Chanel.

The movie was released last month and is the story of Gabrielle Chanel who was the illegitimate daughter of a travelling salesman.   Gabrielle spent time in a Catholic orphanage in the 1980s where she learned how to sew. However, she went after a singing ambition and worked at a Cabaret Club under the name of “Coco”.  It was at this club where she met several high society gentlemen who inspired her to enter the world of fashion.

Coco founded an empire that is still going strong today after becoming one of the most important figures in fashion during the 20th Century.

Chanel No. 5 was one of the world’s most famous perfumes and was first sold in 1921.  This perfume is still very popular.

Chanel 19 was originally released in 1971 and was named after Coco’s birth date, namely August 19th.
