As a variation of 5 card stud poker, let it ride poker was first introduced in 1993. This casino game was an immediate success and has grown tremendously in popularity ever since. The game allows up to 7 players to play at once. There is a house edge of 3.5% and therefore a base knowledge of poker does help in order to swing the edge more in the players’ favour. The game itself is quite simple, with the aim to get the best poker hand as possible. Each player receives 3 cards face down and then two community cards for the table – totalling 5 cards each. In order for players to qualify, they need to be holding at least a pair of tens. Play starts off with players placing three bets – one in each circle marked “1”, “2” and “$”. Each of these bets has to be equal in value. Once all the bets have been placed, players are dealt their three cards and the dealer deals the other two community cards. Once players have looked at their hands they can decide if they want to withdraw their “1” bet or let it ride – hence the name of the game. This decision is based on just the first three cards. Once this sequence is over, the dealer will show the first of the two community cards. This allows players to either withdraw their “2” bet or to let it ride once again. The sequence continues with the dealer then turning over the third card so that players have 5 cards to work with. If a player has not got a pair of tens or better then all remaining bets are lost. If, however, a player has a winning hand then the following is paid out according to how strong the hand is: After all the players have made their decisions the dealer will turn up the first of the two community cards which is in front of the dealer. This card is used as the fourth card for all the players' hands.
