Basics of Baccarat 1 Year ago
Could someone perhaps explain me the basics of Baccarat as I have never played the game before. It seems to complicated and the stakes always look high. Am I correct in that assumption?

Baccarat is a simple form of a card game. This is played with an 8 deck card shoe, which is circulated across the table. The numbers from 1 to 9 are counted as such and card No.10 and the cards with face value are considered as zero. If you are having card with numbers 6 & 10, then total of the cards value which is 16 is subtracted with 10 and the resultant balance of 6 is your point. Upon winning a game, the house will take a commission of 5% from the winning amount and there is no vigorish if you lose.

It is a card game originated from Italy and introduced to France, where it gained it popularity. This is a game of chance and without any strategy or skill requisite. Baccarat is a simple game with only three possible results - 'Player', 'Banker' and 'Tie'. These terms of 'Player', 'Banker' does not refer to the customer or the house, respectively and they are just options on which a customer can bet, while playing.

James Bond is a Baccarat fan, HAHA! Anyhow, this is what wikipedia has to say:
In Baccarat, cards 2-9 are worth face value, 10s and face cards (J, Q, K) are worth zero, and Aces are worth 1 point. Players calculate their score by taking the sum of all cards modulo 10, meaning that after adding the value of the cards the tens digit is ignored. For example, a hand consisting of 2 and 3 is worth 5 (2 + 3 = 5). A hand consisting of 6 and 7 is worth 3 (6 + 7 = 13 = 3) - the first digit is dropped because the total is higher than 10. A hand consisting of 4 and 6 is worth zero, or Baccarat (4 + 6 = 10 = 0). The name "Baccarat" is unusual in that the game is named after the worst hand, worth 0. The highest score that can be achieved is 9 (from a 4 and 5, 10 and 9, or A and 8, etc).

Re:Basics of Baccarat 8 Months ago
I am giving further details about the basics of bacarrat game. Lets you understand and enjoy the game.

Baccarat is begun by placing a wager on either the Banker's or Player'shand. Two cards are dealt from a shoe to each hand. The first hand represents those betting on the Player, the second on the Banker. A third card may be dealt to either hand in accordance with the rules shown in the table below. The winning hand is the one with the point total closest to 9. Tens, cards totaling ten and picture cards count as zero. An ace is counted as one. All numbered cards 1 through 9 count at face value. If the cards total a two digit number, only the last number counts (example 4+9=13; 13 counts as 3). Bets are paid even money but a 5% commission is charged on winning Banker bets. A bet on a tie hand may be made which pays 8 to 1.

I am going to summarize the table of rules that stipulate when a third card(s) is/are dealt as follows:
# If either the player or the banker have a total of an 8 or a 9 they both stand. This rule overrides all other rules.

# If the player's total is less than or equal to 5 the player draws a card, otherwise the player stands.

# If the player does not draw a third card, then the Banker's hand stands on a total of 6 or more and takes a third card on a total of 5 or less. If the player does draw a third card follow the rules below to determine if the banker draws a third card.
