PartyGaming Vows to Remain in Top Five Poker Spot
Tuesday, 06 January 2009

Speaking in an interview to the Financial Times this week, the Chief Executive Officer of PartyGaming, Jim Ryan said that he foresees the poker industry being run by only five major groups within three years – and he intends to have his company up there with them.

"We need to retake the hill and position ourselves to be that leader again," said Ryan. "Our job, quite frankly, is to take a share back."

PartyGaming has been fighting to retain its market share ever since it was forced out of the US gambling market when President George Bush passed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act in 2007. The company is finding it difficult to compete with poker rooms such as PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker who still cater to the US gambling market. However, Ryan is confident that legislation will eventually change in the US, allowing PartyGaming to enter once again.
