Snooker legend Steve Davis said in an interview to UKPokerNews that he would be playing in the Main Event at WSOP 2008, which is the $10,000 buy in World Championship No Limit Texas Hold’em Event scheduled to begin on July 3.
Davis is likely to play at the Bellagio or the Venetian so that he is warmed up for the big game. Ladbrokes Poker has made Davis the captain of the team that will represent Ladbrokes at WSOP.
Though Davis considers snooker as his “life’s work in progress” he is very interested in poker. His interest in poker was kindled when he beat some big names as a novice celebrity in a televised tournament. Since then Davis has been playing poker in all his spare time. When he cannot go to a land casino he logs in to an online poker room. He hints that because of the money involved he would rather win the WSOP main event than be snooker champion again.
