Event #28 at WSOP 2008, the 5,000 USD Pot-Limit Omaha with rebuys has turned out to be the clash of the Titans. This was a final table that poker fans were waiting for. At the head of the table is Johnny Chan, with a chip count of 2,007,000.
Chan has 10 WSOP bracelets to his credit, one short of Phil Hellmuth. Hellmuth, with 11 WSOP bracelets, is also in the final table, but at the bottom with a chip count of only 161,000.
In between are two other poker greats. Daniel Negreanu, with 4 WSOP bracelets, has a chip count of 293,000. Negreanu has already won a bracelet in WSOP 2008. The other great is John Juanda with 3 WSOP bracelets and a chip count of 455,000.
Will Hellmuth work a miracle and surge to a record breaking 12th bracelet? It seems unlikely. What is more likely is that Johnny Chan will equal Hellmuth’s record of 11 bracelets. If anyone can spoil the party for Chan it is likely to be the unheralded Philip Galfond who is in second place with a chip count of 1453,000.
