The 2008 World Poker Tour Legends of Poker (Season VII) commenced on August 23 at the Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, California.
The buy-in is $10,000 and players will begin with starting stacks of 30,000. By the end of Day 4 on Wednesday, August 27, the field will be down to the last six. The final table will commence at 5 p.m. on Thursday August 28.
There were several recognizable faces in Round 1A. They included last year’s winner Dan Harrington and first runner up David “The Dragon” Pham. Other notables were Vanessa Rousso, Erick Lindgren, Men Nguyen, Joe Sebok, Antonio Esfandiari and Chino Rheem. Sebok crashed out before the first break. In 2007 he finished seventh, just missing out on the final table. Men Nguyen had warmed up nicely by winning two of the preliminary events.
The 2007 event had a field of 485 players with a prize pool of $4,642,500. Harrington won $1,634,685 for coming first.
