After World Poker Tour Enterprises were advised last month by the Games Show Network that it had allowed its option to broadcast new seasons of the WPT to expire without renewing this option, the President and Founder of WPTE has been searching for a new home for the tour’s upcoming seventh season.
Yesterday it was announced that WPTE has signed an exclusive agreement with New Corp’s Fox Sports Network to broadcast the tour through its regional networks and affiliates that reach 80 million homes. Twenty six 1-hour programs will be broadcast over the year.
“The World Poker Tour has a track record as the ultimate brand name in televised poker,” said George Greenberg, FSN Executive Vice President of Programming and Production. “FSN is very happy to televise such quality content and we look forward to future programming opportunities with the WPT.”
