WSOP 2008 finally has bracelet winners who have won bracelets before. After the first 17 events yielded brand new first time bracelet winners, Mike Matusow broke the trend with a win in the $5,000 buy-in No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball with ReBuys. Matusow has won bracelets in 1999 and 2002. It was as if the floodgates had broken because after that old winners came to the fore.
Daniel Negreanu won the $2,000 buy-in Limit Hold’em, thus getting bracelet number 4. His earlier three wins came in 1998, 2003 and 2004. The $2,500 buy-in Pot Limit Hold’em Omaha saw Max Pescatori winning the second bracelet of his career. He had earlier won in 2006.
One other notable outcome took place in week 2. When Blair Hinkle won the $2,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em, he and brother Grant Hinkle became the first siblings to bag bracelets in the same tear in the entire history of WSOP. Grant had earlier won the $1,500 buy-in No Limit Hold’em event.
