Eastgate Wins WSOP Main Event

In a packed Penn & Teller Theater at the Rio Peter Eastgate of Denmark beat Ivan Demidov of Russia in the heads-up of the WSOP 2008 Main Event. It took 104 hands and four hours of seesaw battle for Eastgate to wear out his opponent. Eastgate won the bracelet and the top prize of $9,152,416.

The final table of the WSOP 2008 Main Event has finally been reconvened. There has been a mixed reaction to the delay. The organizers have stated that they will evaluate the pros and cons after the event is over and then will take a considered decision for next year.

WSOP 2008 Main Event on ESPN

Those who missed out on the live action at the Main Event of WSOP 2008 can view the highlights on ESPN. This is the $10,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em event. The first episode was aired on the 2nd of September at 5 p.m. PT. This episode featured the four Day1 Starting fields that saw 6,844 entrants being pared down to 3,737.

Day 5 of WSOP Main Event

The final table is not far off in the WSOP 2008 Main Event of $10,000 No Limit Hold’em. At the end of Day 5 there were less than 80 contestants left in the fray. Leading the pack was Mark Ketteringham with a chip count of almost 6 million. The remaining nine of the top ten were placed with chip counts between the 3 million and 4 million mark.
