World Series of Poker in 1997 was  the only WSOP where the main event was held outdoors - outside of the Binion's Horseshoe Casino. This tournamnet is also famous for the comeback of Stu Ungar who won main event in 1981.

In WSOP main event there were 312 entrants - with $10,000 buy-in.

The final hand was played between Stu Ungar vs John Strzemp. Stu Ungar got A 4 and his opponent, John Strzemp received very similar hand with A 8. Ungar raised his pre-flop to $40.000, Strzemp called.

In river 2 went to the table, giving lucky Ungar a 5-high straight. For a winning in the tournamnet he Stu received  $1,000,000 in prize money and he became the first person in poker history to take 3 titles at WSOP.
