393 players was fighting for a 1999 WSOP title. As usual each competitor paid $10,000 buy-in to enter the most famous poker tournament. At the WSOP 1999 final table, Noel Furlong had a pair of fives (5♣ 5♦). Alan Goehring received a pair of sixes (6♥ 6♦).
Furlong called from a small blind, Goehring checked. The flop Q♠ Q♣ 5♠ gave Furlong great advantage over Goehring as it gave Noel Queens full of fives. Furlong decided to check rather than raise. He knew that he has very strong card. Goehring made the same. The turn brought 2♠, and Furlong finally raised to $150.000. Goehring didn't read the situation and he raised $300.000. After that, Furlong moved all-in. Goehring called. The river dropped 8♠. This card didn't change anything. Thus, Furlong became the 1999 World Champion.
